prodigal

“Well, I’m back.”

That sentence ends Tolkien’s infamous “trilogy.” What many people don’t know is that Sam goes on to become mayor of Hobbiton later on in life and has many children until he too departs from the Grey Havens to the undying lands, being the last of the ring-bearers to leave Middle Earth. (And I’m sure even that “ending” is only the beginning of Sam’s life…ya know…because of the whole “undying” insinuation.)

While I don’t take myself so seriously that I believe my return to the blogosphere compares to the triumphant return of Tolkien’s halfling protagonist, for those that know me, I’m sure it’s going to put a sly grin on their collective faces.

So much has changed in the years my fingers have been silent. It seems the dang kids today all have blogs of some sort, some of which are seemingly blogs about their other blogs, but all divulging in (sometimes unnecessary) detail the intricacies of their place in this media-saturated world we wake up to every morning. In my day, you had to spend 5 minutes dialing up BOTH WAYS just to access the Intarwebs.

This is an experiment of sorts. The look and feel will undoubtedly change in the coming weeks. I’m a little frustrated at the lack of flexibility in some of the prefab templates offered…so I might enlist someone to help me design my own layout.

Who knows if I’ll stay devoted, but for those brave enough to follow…you better kick your feet…
