So here we are, 24 hours later from my last post.
I’m feeling great after so much rest. Being sick got my whole sleep cycle off kilter. I just had to give up at around 3 yesterday and come home to sleep. I hated missing CR, but I was reminded of something our pastor, Todd once said: “Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can do is just go to sleep.”
There you have it.
So I was making my “dinner” at around 3 this morning and again went out to the porch to throw some trash away. The only thing I had on were my boxers. Don’t stumble. And when I opened the door to go outside on our deck I again got excited about the warm weather. If you can be outside in the middle of the night with only your boxers on and feel warm, you know you’re in Texas. Living here has made my blood thin and we’ve had a longer “winter” than normal, so Spring is definitely welcome to get its lazy butt out of bed as far as I’m concerned.
I’m really excited about this weekend. First of all, I think I’ll be going to The Dive @ Watermizzle on Friday. It should be a good time. Also, this Friday marks the return of Battlestar Galactica for its 4th and final season. Battlestar is so sweet…it hurts. Seriously, if you’ve never seen it, you’ve never seen anything like it. It’s my second favorite show next to Lost. And lastly, the AFI film festival is going on right now and I’ll be at the Angelika and Northpark several nights this week being artsy. My buddy Travis snatched (read: lifted) me a hefty catalog of the movies being shown this week across the city while we were seeing Stop-Loss. I think I’m going to go see Frag tonight after The Porch and there are several films I want to see this weekend, including what looks to be a pretty sweet anime called Vexille. I’m gonna be broke.
On a completely different note, check out THIS POST by Perry Noble. Many of you know I’m growing wary of all the circus-like shenanigans that are becoming the norm in churches across the US in the name of “relevance.” Ideas and visions that started off with so much promise seem to have devolved into who can have the most offensive sermon series on sex. There is a HUGE difference between being “seeker-sensitive” and “seeker-centered.” It’s just getting a little out of hand imo. But what Perry and others are doing here seems to be really innovative (beginning to dislike that word too, but it’s the right choice in this case) and centered on honoring God through unity. Can’t beat that. Props.
Well, it’s 5am. Rise and shine people.
